IBM not helping ~Paul Ektoogenjip 14.May.03 12:35 PM a Web browser Domino Server 6.0.1Windows 2000
IBM has to make a loud, clear and unambiguous statement very soon about Notes and Domino's future if it has one. By saying nothing IBM are effectively giving the message: "Domino is dead long live Websphere". If Domino does have a long term future then IBM should tell its sales and marketing teams who practically spit when Domino is mentioned.
I've recently been to 3 IBM Business Partner days here in the UK. All we here is Websphere, Websphere, Websphere. There are always questions from worried lotus shops about the future of IBM's commitment to Lotus Domino, there is never a satisfactory answer. Very recently an IBM presenter started to make a comment about Lotus Domino's future checked himself and rapidly change the subject. He was clearly reprimanded by a more senior member of the presentation team. When quizzed later he refused to make any more comment. At the ITSO in La'Hulpe at the end of last year presenters where horrified that we were ever considering domino as an application platform over webshere.
I am also a staunch Notes supporter and look forward to Notes running on DB2 and J2EE platforms but is this ever going to happen?. Does Domino have a future? Not if you listen to IBM.
